Happy Friday! Our Kindergarten Campout last weekend was a great success and we are all excited to be back at school after our long weekend. We cannot wait to welcome Dads back on campus next week for Dad's Day Celebrations.  A couple of important reminders regarding Dad's Day: Only one adult can attend per child.  Dad's Day celebrations will take place outside weather permitting.  Should we have inclement weather, we will send the activities home for completion.  Also, all adults must wear a mask during Dad's Day Celebrations.

The schedule for celebrations is as follows:

Monday, October 18th at 10:15  Honeybees

Tuesday, October 19th at 10:15  Ladybugs

Wednesday, October 20th at 10:15  Blue Stars

Wednesday, October 20th at 1pm Kindergarten

Wednesday, October 20th at 2:30 Owls

Thursday, October 21st at 10:15 Hummingbirds

Friday, October 22nd at 10:15 Caterpillars

Friday, October 22 at 2:30 Red Apples

The final week of October we will have Pajama Day in all of our classes but Kindergarten.  Our Kindergarten class has a Wild Rumpus instead.  Rather than have children come to school in their Halloween costumes, teachers and students come to school in their pajamas to emphasize the delightful, not frightful, aspects of Halloween.  Mr. Rich will also visit each class separately for his Acorn Famous Dry Ice Experiments.  Check your class newsletters for more details.

Robert Shaw graciously took school pictures and family mini-photo sessions for us last week.  The links to the pictures are posted to our website in the private section. To view the pictures, click on the "Updates for Current Parents" portion of our website.  At the login page, enter your primary email address (the one registered with the school) and click "Forgot Password."  You will be emailed a link to create your own password.  Once you've created a password, you can log into our website to see the links.  Individual photos can be found by going to your child's class link.  Sibling photos (siblings posed together) can be found by going to the sibling link and Family Mini Sessions can be found on the Family link.  Please do not share these links with others as the link will take you to photos of all the children in your child's class.  We ask that you respect the privacy of the children and their families by not sharing with others.  If you would like to order photos, you select those photos you would like to order through the website.  Parents may mix and match photos with package ordering between separate links (if they have two kids in separate classes, sibling photos, family photos, etc.) they will just need to contact Robert Shaw directly. All hard copy prints will be shipped to you directly.  If you have any questions, please contact Robert Shaw directly at robertshawphoto@gmail.com.  Robert will be on campus on November 10 at 9:30 AM for a photo makeup session for children who were absent last week for pictures.  If your child does not have school that day, please let us know you will be bringing them.  We are incredibly grateful to Robert for capturing the spirit of our Acorn children and staff.

The Gallery also enables you to look at your child's class gallery page to see photos throughout the year.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday!  Today our kindergarten class and their families head out to Lost Maples for the Kindergarten Camp Out and a weekend of fun outdoor activities.  This is a beloved Acorn tradition and we are so excited to be able to do it this year.

Many, many thanks to Robert Shaw, our Acorn Alum for taking individual and class photos of our students.  Many of our students commented on the very silly man who kept them laughing during their photo shoots.  We expect to have pictures available for viewing next week.  Typically, Robert provides a website where families can view and order pictures.  We will send out more specific details about how to access your child's pictures and place your orders once we have more details.

At The Acorn, we talk frequently about reading and its value for children.  Teachers read to their classes, books are available in all of our reading lofts and in Kindergarten "Book Look" is a daily activity.  Read our Seeds for Thought for a recent NPR article on the emotional and cognitive benefits of reading out loud to your children. If you need book recommendations for different ages, please contact the office and we are happy to make recommendations.
