Begin by exploring our website, learning about our philosophy, and discovering what makes The Acorn a special place for young children!  If you have specific questions about applying, we welcome you to submit our online inquiry form or by calling our office.  This step adds your child to our Master List, which is important when determining Enrollment Order.

The best way to experience The Acorn is to visit us! We have three formal tours annually. Our formal tours are on a Saturday morning, at 10:00 AM, and usually last approximately 1.5–2 hours in duration. Tours are for parents/guardians only. 

During your tour, our directors will guide parents/guardians through the campus, and you will have the opportunity to observe our classrooms, meet members of our faculty, explore our outdoor learning spaces, and learn more about our educational philosophy. We have virtual tour videos available for our Preschool and Kindergarten campus.

Families interested in enrollment will submit an application along with any required documentation (letters of reference, etc) or student records as well as applicable fees. One application is required per child.

The order for enrollment is based upon the date of your completed application and payment. Please note that interested families must have attended one of our formal tours to be considered eligible to proceed with enrollment. Our Admissions Team is happy to guide you through each step of the process.

Primarily for Kindergarteners and Grade School children, prospective students are invited to spend time in the classroom so our teachers can get to know them in a familiar, age-appropriate setting. 

This visit helps ensure that The Acorn is a wonderful fit for both your child and your family. After we receive your application form and necessary fees, please contact us to arrange a time for your child to spend time with us during class.

Explore Class Options

After the application/applicable fees are received as well as completion of a formal tour (and, if necessary, student visit/family interview completed and student records received), families will be eligible to begin the enrollment process. Families will review enrollment information, complete required forms, submit enrollment fees, and await information on next steps for joining The Acorn community.

We encourage all prospective families to contact the school in January to inform us of your continued interest.  This is a very important step; with so many families on the list, we rely on you to keep us informed of your plans.

Choosing The Acorn means becoming part of a community—not simply choosing a school for your child. Our families are an important part of what makes The Acorn possible, and we believe that a strong school community is built through shared participation, generosity, and a willingness to pitch in.

As an independent school, we rely on the involvement of our families to help support the experiences, programs, traditions, and spaces that make The Acorn special. Family participation in school events, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising is an important part of being an Acorn family.

The Acorn is not a drop-off community. We ask families to come to our community with an understanding that everyone has a role to play in helping the school thrive and a willingness to contribute and be an active part of the community. We believe children benefit when they see the adults in their lives showing up, working together, and investing in the place where they learn.

Our hope is that families see participation not simply as an obligation, but as an opportunity to build relationships, support our teachers, strengthen our school, and create a community in which our children can flourish.
