Our Grade School program builds on the curiosity, creativity, and confidence children develop during their early years at The Acorn preschool and kindergarten programs. Located at our new Tall Oaks campus, our program provides a strong academic foundation while preserving the joy of childhood through hands-on learning, meaningful projects, outdoor exploration, and a supportive community where every child is known and valued.
We know students learn best when they are actively engaged rather than simply memorizing information. Here students investigate questions, solve real-world problems, collaborate with classmates, and apply their learning in meaningful ways.
Screen-Free Learning Environment
Tall Oaks maintains a screen-free educational environment.
We believe elementary-aged children benefit from learning through books, conversation, hands-on materials, collaboration, nature, movement, and direct experiences.
Students are encouraged to research, question, discuss, create, and solve problems without relying on screens to drive their learning.
Our goal is to develop children who are comfortable sitting with a difficult question and thinking their way through it.
Project Based Learning
Rather than simply completing assignments, students may research questions, design solutions, conduct experiments, create presentations, build models, write, revise, collaborate, and share their discoveries with others.
Students engage in projects and investigations that allow them to apply what they know in meaningful ways. A science question may lead to an outdoor investigation. A study of history may inspire research, writing, or creative work. A mathematical concept may become part of a design or building challenge.
Through these experiences, students learn that knowledge is connected.
They also develop the skills that will serve them throughout their lives:

Enrichment Opportunities
From creating a piece of art to planting a garden, learning a new language to playing a game of chess, our enrichment experiences invite children to discover what they enjoy—and perhaps discover talents they didn't know they had.
Students receive instruction in art, Spanish, and music twice each week, providing opportunities to develop creativity, cultural awareness, communication, self-expression, and appreciation for the arts.
Enrichment gives children the freedom to explore different ways of thinking and creating. A child who loves numbers might discover chess. A future chef might find joy in cooking. A budding scientist might become fascinated with gardening. An artist might discover sewing. A reluctant speaker might find confidence through music or Spanish.
