At The Acorn, preschool is a time for children to build confidence, develop relationships, and discover the joy of learning. Through purposeful play, hands-on experiences, outdoor exploration, stories, art, music, and meaningful classroom routines, children develop the social, emotional, language, and early academic foundations they will carry with them throughout their school years.
Our preschool program welcomes children between the ages of two and eight months to five years. We have seven different class offerings ranging 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day options available, with the option of our full-day Bridge Program available for 3-day class offerings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday classes.

For young children, play is serious learning.
A block tower becomes an opportunity to explore balance and engineering. A pretend restaurant develops language, social skills, and early mathematics. A collection of leaves can lead to questions about nature and science. A story can inspire writing, dramatic play, art, and conversation.
At The Acorn, play is not separate from learning. Play is how young children learn.

Our outdoor environment gives children opportunities to experience nature firsthand.
Children observe plants and animals, explore changing seasons, collect and compare natural materials, dig, build, run, climb, imagine, and investigate.
Children engage with the natural world through outdoor play, sensory experiences, and inquiry-based learning, developing an appreciation for nature while strengthening observation, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.

Annual Mud & Water Day
One of our most anticipated school traditions is Mud & Water Day—a day dedicated to getting messy, getting wet, and having fun!
Children have the freedom to splash, scoop, pour, dig, squish, and explore as they experience the joy of open-ended outdoor play. Mud and water become materials for creativity, sensory exploration, cooperation, and discovery.
And yes—getting dirty is encouraged!
Mud & Water Day captures something we value deeply at The Acorn: giving children the freedom to play wholeheartedly, explore with their senses, and simply enjoy being children.
Grandparents' Day
Each February, The Acorn welcomes grandparents and special family members to campus for Grandparents' Day.
This special tradition gives children the opportunity to share a little piece of their school world with the people who love them. Grandparents and special guests can visit the classrooms, see where children learn and play, and experience the warm community that makes The Acorn special.
For children, it is a wonderful opportunity to proudly say:
“This is my school.”
Traditions That Become Memories
These small moments are among many other traditions become another chapter in a child's growing Acorn story. One of the special things about The Acorn is that children don't have to leave behind the magic of early childhood as they become older students because the traditions they experience as preschoolers continue to grow with them through Kindergarten and Grade School.
