The Acorn School, celebrating its 43rd year, is a non-profit, tax exempt, educational nursery school offering programs to 135 children from the age of 2 years 8 months old through Kindergarten (age 6).  We have one teacher for every five or six children in our classes, which enables us to individualize with the children and ensures a great deal of personal nurturance and enrichment for each child daily.

As a result of our low student/teacher ratio, lots of space per child, and the high quality of the entire program, The Acorn operates at an annual deficit of over $100,000.  The school has 501(c)(3) charitable status from the Internal Revenue Service, and we cover our deficit and raise funds through donations from parents, grandparents, and alumni, etc., and especially through our annual school fundraiser. We are thankful for our community supporters, parents, and families who help our unaffiliated, independent school meet this major challenge in raising funds every year.

Due to the COVID environment, The Acorn School has not been able to have a fundraiser for the past 3 years, which has been hard on us economically. This year at The Acorn on the first Saturday of Fiesta, we will have a fun festival with pony rides, a petting zoo, a moon bounce, arts, crafts, games, face painting, food trucks, and many more family activities. Inside we will have an extensive silent auction for the adults and we wanted to request that you help our school by donating an item to our silent auction.

We publicize the list of silent auction items and their donors in our newsletters and on our website in advance of our event.  Each prize receives good exposure during the event, as well as afterwards when the list of winners and high bidders for each prize is publicized.  We know that many worthwhile organizations ask for your assistance, and we truly appreciate your consideration of a donation to help our school.  Our Acorn parents have been very good about patronizing donors of prizes, since we all appreciate your support.  After all, if it weren’t for the generosity of the kind people who support The Acorn, the school could never exist.
